AB - In this paper, experiments were conducted to compare the thermodynamic  performance of R417A used in air-source heat pump water heaters under two  ambient temperature conditions of 20°C and 7°C, including discharge  pressure, input power and COP, and the experimental results were analyzed.  The results showed that the operation was reliable and that R417A is very  suitable for heat pump water heaters. This study provides a promising  alternative refrigerant to freon.
